FAQ
-
What are your business hours?
Appointments are available by appointment only, which are scheduled from 9-5 Monday through Friday. Mondays and Fridays are virtual only.
-
What is the cost of therapy?
The cost of each session can vary based on your insurance plan’s copayments, maximum out-of-pocket limit, and deductibles. I am happy to help walk you through what to expect with the cost once you provide your insurance information and date of birth. If you do not have insurance, individual counseling is $120 per session and a sliding scale is available based on income.
-
What can I expect in therapy?
For the first session, you can expect me to talk about what to expect in counseling, allow you to ask questions, and I will ask questions about you and your background to get to know your unique lived experience and goals. After this we start focusing on the skills you need and address the underlying beliefs and experiences which might create a barrier to using these skills. Sessions last about 53 minutes.
-
Is everything we talk about confidential?
You can rest assured that I have your privacy as my highest priority. I follow federal and state laws regarding protected health information. There are some exceptions to confidentiality: If I worry you are going to hurt yourself or others. If I am mandated to make a CPS report. If I am subpoenaed and ordered by a judge.
-
Do you offer Christian based counseling?
I am not a Christian-based counselor or affiliated with any particular religion. If your faith is important to you, it is important to me and I am happy to discuss how this may be a strength for you and guide your values and decisions in therapy. Like many medical professionals, I do not disclose my personal religious or political views. Everyone, spiritual, religious, or non-religious, is welcome.
-
Do you accept Medicaid?
I do accept some forms of Medicaid and this depends on the insurance company you have selected as your provider. Currently, I accept UnitedHealthcare Medicaid and Sentara Medicaid.
